Mads is an Award-Winning Lighting Designer currently based out of Bloomington, IN, getting their M.F.A. in Lighting Design and Technology at Indiana University Bloomington (projected graduation May '25).

 

Born and raised in Benton, AR, they moved from audience member to full fleged theatre geek in high school and went on to graduate from Southern Arkansas University with a B.F.A. in Technical Theatre and minor in Communications Design with Honors. While at SAU, they participated in 18 different productions, 10 of which were a lead design role. During their senior year, Mads was named the Outstanding Graduating Student for the Department of Performing Arts & Mass Communication and became the first of the department to be named the Dempsey College of Liberal and Performing Arts Outstanding Graduating Student.

Mads is currently interested in involvement and research in green/sustainable theatre and designing stories of the underrepresented. In their free time you can find them crocheting or reading the latest queer fantasy novel.
